Not Enough Time – A Personal Tribute

Inspired by a poem of the same title, Not Enough Time grew from a deeply personal moment. The poem, written by my brother Daniel Rowbotham after the loss of his daughter to meningitis on 15 April 2008, shaped the heart of this project. When asked about its hidden meaning, he replied:

“I had been guided to write everything down, as my head was in a mess. It was the time when Beren was in the chapel of rest around the corner at the undertakers. I woke with a start, sat up scribbled, crashed back into deep sleep. This happened again not long after, the result is the words printed on the sheet unaltered, unedited. It is remarkable that you have found such fantastic meanings in them.”

Not Enough Time was produced for the Meningitis Research Foundation (UK) and dedicated to my niece, Beren Rowbotham, who passed away at the age of ten after fighting meningococcal septicaemia. Her older sister, Cendl, wrote the opening title and added a further personal voice to the piece.

I produced, directed, and programmed the work from concept to completion. The visual material came from a mix of sources. I used online stock images—both royalty-free and free-to-use—along with photos from family members and several images I created myself. Many visuals also came from the Meningitis Research Foundation’s Book of Remembrance at www.meningitis.org. The final production includes both English and Italian voice-overs.
