Passing the Time with Time-lapse Photography
Time-lapse photography is a technique in which film frames are captured at a much lower frequency than they are played back. When the resulting footage is viewed at normal speed, time appears to move faster—hence, it “lapses.” For example, if an image is captured once every second and played back at 25 frames per second, the final video presents time at 25 times its actual speed. In this way, time-lapse photography serves as the opposite of slow-motion or high-speed video.
We undertake commissions to create time-lapse content that captures change over the course of an hour, a day, a week, a month, or even multiple years. The final output can be delivered as individual images or compiled into an animated film in any standard video format, from DVD quality to full HD, suitable for both online and offline display.
You’ll find a few examples here—some created just for fun, others for professional clients. Commissions have been completed both locally and internationally, in studios and on location. Many more works are available in our archive and can be licensed upon request. If you’re looking for a particular subject, feel free to get in touch.
